Recap of IBM BusinessConnect 2013 in Belgium: Realize the art of the possible.

BNL BC MainThe first edition of the IBM BusinessConnect (Belgium) was hosted in Dolce La Hulpe, Brussels on November 21st. With more than 500 participants, the event was a great success. This business event highlighted the crucial role of technology, from a variety of approaches, for organizations.

Participants learned about the current trends that are shaping and reforming businesses and redefining the competitive landscape, without getting into technical details. Attendees also discovered how their organizations can apply technology for innovation and growth.

The day opened with an interesting video introduction on trending topics of the day like Big Data, Smarter Analytics, Mobile, Smarter Commerce and Social Business.

Expert presentations, practical stories, workshops and demonstrations offered valuable insights and information on these themes.

Alongside the keynote sessions, there were also breakout sessions on specific fields:

Attendees had numerous opportunities to share knowledge and experience with IBM experts and partners, along with peers from other organizations.

The messaging “Realize the art of the possible” was shared with an art-specific approach in the exhibition area. The space featured numerous exhibits ranging from large printed pictures of “I´m an IBMer” campaign to client references, as well as museums exhibits, among others.

Registration was followed by printing of the badges. In fact, every attendee got the opportunity to get photographed and receive a photograph with the event branding on it. The event was completely integrated with social media for a real-time experience via the dominantly placed Twitter wall. More than 500 tweets with #IBMBCBE were shared during the event.

Bart Windal (Vice President Software Group, IBM Benelux) and Marc Teerlink (Global strategist & Data Scientist) gave the opening keynotes of the day, which was followed by numerous sessions.

Altogether, 19 business partners were integrated into the exhibition area. The main themes of the event, Big Data and Cloud, have a very close connection with the IBM PureSystems family.
